Survival skills & catch up

We have a nice group of friends that we meet up with regularly for learning activities (and general catch ups). This week wonderful Roz planned our activity — she did a great job too! Her theme was survival — the activities were awesome fun!

First the children painted a pet rock.

Then they went to make a shelter for the rock (out of things they could find).

They placed the rocks in the shelters.

Then they decorated a biscuit.

They discussed what you would take with you on a walk (such as food, water, sunscreen etc) and learned a bunch of things that will save your life if you are lost in the bush — and to take a piece of fabric because it can be used as just about ANYTHING!

Then they set off to their shelter they took the biscuit, water and a square piece of fabric.

To finish off they all did a little presentation about their shelter — what they used, why etc

Attention kids — I apologise in advance if I have not included your pet rock, shelter or biscuit in the photos. It was not that it wasn’t awesome, I just may not have gotten a photo…
